Garden Time Week 5!!! Cabbage and Pak Choy

So this week was a bit eventful. First of all, I noticed most of the cabbages going yellowish brown at the start of the week. upon investigation, I realize that there was still some drainage issue. I placed a deeper drain, to the west side of the field. They seem to be on the recovery, looking green again.

Then another issue arose. On Monday, we noticed some Iguanas near the water pool. I didn't think anything of it at the time until I realized that my cabbages were being eaten. I've never encountered this before though, I know they're herbivores and I suppose it's quite logical to think they would be attracted to a crop like cabbages. Well, I suppose the fact that this is the first time I'm really planting cabbages too can account for my surprise. Has anyone else ever been preyed upon by iguanas?

Those bite marks are not indicative of leaf cutter ants, I can imagine them being formed by young iguana though. I will have to do some investigating! If anyone can say for sure, I'd like to know.

On the bright side, only some of them were touched.

Most look about ready to bloom :)

At least there's some good news! The Pak Choy seem to be doing just fine. I wish I could get some of what these guys are eating! At this rate, they will be ready for picking within a week or two, the cabbages should come a week or two behind them.

As you can see, the water seems to have had less of an effect on the Pak Choy than the cabbages. They're also a shorter term crop too so, I'll be letting you know how these guys taste very soon.

I've never cultivated these either, they can be quite beautiful to look at.

That's it for this week, next week, I'll be covering my pepper and cucumber crops as well. Thanks for reading and see you then!
