Hey, @abitcoinskeptic. Thanks for the mention. im' going to try to get the post up later today or tomorrow.

I actually didn't know there was a difference between sunflower seeds you eat, and the ones that are used to make oil. I also didn't know you could actually prepare them, like you do. I'm used to seeing them being eaten straight of the flower. (Not a big fan myself, but I might give baking them a try..)

There are a few different varieties.
Some just look pretty, others grow big. These ones end up being so heavy the flowers often droop.
My garden tends to look ghetto, but I really liked to see those at the ends of the rows.

That produce looks great! Love to eat fresh Sun flower seeds.

I was pleased with how many I got. I'll definitely grow more next year. I'm going to try and grow more things from seedlings.

@abitcoinskeptic, Clean harvest you have got there. I love that cultivation practiced used there.
But you said that the late rain messed up things, but since you practiced #plastic mulching, didn't it help the moisture conservation?
And what's the tomato cultiva that grows that fast.

Plastic definitely allows me to water less. But it was very dry compared to normal. The rainy season came very late this year.

I completely forgot the name of the tomatoes. They were little cherry tomatoes, but I have no more information.

Good news my friend, now that we have our own place, I can also start with a garden. But it is going to be very small and I still have to decide in a 2x2.5 meter, or maybe a few open wooden boxes.
Depends maybe on what I want to plant and time will tell.

You have some interesting produce here and corn is known as "Mealies" on this side of the big pond. We normally eat it hot with butter and salt, or we also roast them on an open fire.
Blessings!

I hope your garden goes well. I would start with herbs and perennials. Those tend to require the least amount of attention.

The way you cook corn sounds really nice.

Thank you for the advice my friend.
I will certainly plan it correctly.
Blessings!

What a good-looking corn, I've never really tasted k corn, but I'm one of those who thinks all kinds of corn are delicious!

I do like trying different varieties of corn or any food for that matter.

LOVIN' the sunflowers! We eat so much of those and pumpkin seeds!

Preserving sweet corn is next on my list... hopefully next week!

Pumpkin seeds can be eaten as a snack??? OMG, I'm such a noob, lol

Great post:)

Thanks

I enjoyed the rambling style of writing that you use. It actually matches the way your garden seems to have grown this month.
I grow and use many herbs, the type that the mob of Vervet monkeys do not eat. Sadly they decimate any crop often picking the fruit green so it lies wasted on the ground.

Lol, I definitely ramble. I even mention this from time to time.

I wouldn't be too happy if there were vervet monkeys in my garden. We have magpies which is annoying enough to deal with.

My issue now is a 2 week leave of absence during a crutial replanting time. Most of it will happen right in the middle. Let's see if I can still grow something in early fall.

I forgot to include my collage in my post:

Garden as it looks now.

I always find it sad to see the end of the growing season but it looked like you did get a nice harvest from some of your crops!
You're fortunate that you have the fall planting season, come fall it is harvest time and time to put the gardens to bed for the winter.
Thanks for sharing your garden with us!

I’ve never heard of people boiling their corn in sugar. For me I’m just happy with butter, salt and pepper on mine.

I like some specie once in a while but pepper plants always seem to grow such large quantities I’ll never use it all in a year. Only if everything would do the same!

For peppers sometimes I do very well, other times not so well. I dry them if I get too many or trade them.

Who got aggressive in your garden lol? My son would do a job like that... loathes gardening, probably coz he was forced to help out haha.

Looks like you have had quite a good harvest. As you reap, Im sowing down under.

Appreciated the dry humour in your writing!

I like gardening and find it quite relaxing, but eventually I ftake out my plants. I'm not interested in maximizing everything.
Unfortunately, I'm not around now to do the fall planting l, so I will give up or just see if I can get a smaller fall harvest.
