No evidence supports, and all evidence (including Perry's own statement to the police) contradicts, the claim that there was an AK-47 "pointed to his face." The rifle was at "low-ready" position. Carrying a weapon is neither illegal nor inherently threatening.
Perry publicly said he wanted to kill protesters.
Perry publicly "joked" that he might "have to" kill protesters.
Perry opined to a friend (in a subpoenaed Facebook chat and as confirmed by the other participant) that he could get away with killing protesters by claiming self-defense.
Then Perry ran a red light, drove into a crowd of protesters, and murdered one of them.
