We have been having fuel shortages for the past couple weeks in Phoenix and the MSM has not been saying what the real causes are. Finally, we are starting to get some indications of the reasons.
Now they are finally saying refinery capacity decreased, unexpected pipeline maintenance, flooding in the midwest, higher demand due to spring break, changing from winter gasoline to summer gasoline and high trading prices of crude oil.
The unexpected pipeline maintenance is concerning, and I am not able to find out any details. The lack of information is most concerning.
The midwest flooding is causing disruption to ethanol output. I am convinced this is just the first sign of issues we are going to see from the midwest flooding. I have never been a fan of using food / feed for fuel production. Now we can see what happens as those resources become constrained.
This is just the first sign of cracks in our supply chain with the midwest flooding as a root cause. I fear this is just the beginning.
