Re consideration of resentencing Menendez brothers, the DA says
“Gascón, who is seeking reelection, noted that more than 300 people have been resentenced during his term, and only four have gone on to commit a crime again.”
More than one percent is really shockingly high to me. It certainly isn’t something to brag about. You’d think folks who benefitted from the break would be especially concerned about not behaving badly, for moral reasons, and at the least not getting caught again.
The fact that he holds it up as a justification of his own good judgment means that the it is regarded as good based on recidivism stats, rather than against the norms of early release and mercy. Huh.
