The 2024 Olympics have come and gone, and I didn't hear it trend as usual; no news popped up on my device to notify me. Is it because it is not my most searched item on Google, I have not been too busy, or was this year never the Olympics year?

I am in Paris; don't you believe me? Yes, I am in Paris as a pantrist. It sounds like a rhyme scheme, right? It does, but I was very careful to bring to the remainder most of my country's people who ordered food that the Olympics are here and to others out there that it will take another 5 years for the next Olympics to come up, a farewell through my dish. We might meet some other time because cooking takes us around the globe, and we make you feel like you are in Paris even if you aren't, with their delicacies. Gastronomical cooking makes us travellers.

Not everybody ordered a dessert; some did one mixed with vegetables and fruit, and I had to attach the symbols to it. I mean, the Olympic symbol; it wasn't that necessary, but I made it our eatery's symbol for the Olympic period. In order to make it colourful, I decided to use fruits, some of which didn't go directly into the food but found their way into the trap, so the customers could decide when to consume it.

The fruits I had easy access to were oranges, tomatoes, cucumbers, and watermelon. I would have purchased even more, but I was short of funds. I intended to purchase carrots, but carrot packs were too small in comparison to the prizes, and unfortunately, bargaining with the traders here is meaningless because everyone knows how inflated everything is.

All this fruit was refrigerated yesterday so that they wouldn't sour or soften, especially the tomatoes and the watermelon.

How it started

I picked the already sliced orange and peeled it with my hands to ensure I saw its orange skin manifest, then I put my finger in the centre from the top to split it into two halves. I then separated them into parts.

I decided to use a single colour to make this symbol since I couldn't find fruits that have all the complete 5 colours contained in the Olympic symbols.

I divided the watermelon into two; no much work was done on this part, actually, just an unsymmetrical division and then placing them by the sides.

The cucumber was just in the tray; it is left for the consumer to utilise it.

While I prepared all this, my white rice was already on standby on the plate, and the orange was arranged in such a way that would prevent the grains from detaching.

My dessert is ready; the rice was just addictive to make the decoration more colourful.
