I went to a gemology show recently and bought some samples for my collection. I thought you guys might enjoy them....
Here is a sample of labradorite:
To see the structure of the stone requires the proper angle of light.

Still nice to look at, but not nearly as impressive!
I also picked up an unusual crystal cluster:
It is supposed to be quartz, but it isn't clear! I bought it to play with it some, if the color in the crystal is true; to his could be imperial quartz. I have never even heard of this color of quartz, so this will be a real challenge!

If it does test as quartz, and the color is true, I'll have to cut some into a gemstones. It is supposed to be possible, and I don't have one in my collection! So I may have to make on to get one.....
