I would have thought that a story about a girl being raped on school grounds only to have the incident covered up by the administrators who responded by sending the rapist to another school where he did it again would be national news. Alas, nobody has been disciplined. Nobody has been fired. Nobody is in jail. If you only read left-leaning news publications, you probably haven't heard about it unless you've seen somebody like me post about it. You might have seen reports about a parent being arrested at a school board meeting and a push to have certain parents labelled as domestic terrorists and you might have been told that these are all racist parents who are worried about CRT.
Nobody cared to look into this but a conservative news publication. Still, among the people who latched so firmly onto the #metoo movement, nobody cares. Nobody who has taken Terry McAuliffe's side that parents shouldn't have a say seems to care. Nobody I know who is opposed to school choice seems to care.
Why?
Well, it's an inconvenient truth for them. The student who committed the rape identifies as non-binary and anybody that I have encountered on this issue on the other side seems to be more concerned about using the rapist's preferred pronouns than that a girl was raped. Either that or the "believe all women" people immediately stop believing the woman because this story is a glitch in their narrative. It's easy for the people who oppose school choice to make their arguments if we're all forced to pretend that government schools are held accountable while private schools aren't. It's easier for them to try to argue that having a choice of schools should only be accessed by rich people if the concerns are only academic. If suddenly these people have to argue that you have to pay $10,000 a year just to get your kid out of the school that allowed her to be raped, it's a steeper hill to climb.
