what India wants is a Bleeding Women!!

in gender •  7 years ago

A women if bleeds, she is considered fertile, useful for reproduction in our society. In many parts of remote villages of India, where the women is nothing but a reproduction tool, it is this phenomena of "bleeding" which make her important and suitable for getting married. Yet, menstruation in whisper hidden from men. In a study conducted by AC Neilson, it was found only 12% of India's 355 million menstruating women use sanitary napkins. Most of the women are found using old cloths, rags or even sands. In a study by ICMR it was found that 70% of mothers consider menstruation 'dirty' and 'polluting' with many teachers and frontline health workers echoing this sentiment . This perpetuates a culture of silence, shame and misinformation to the next generation.

My whole life I have heard people talk about India as an enlightened country. What is enlightened about the caste system, forced marriages, and poverty? India is an absolute disaster.

India is a blackhole ! It is a paradox of modern thought and obsolete rituals of dark ages. Nothing makes sense.
The only way to survive this paradox is to choose your environment wisely and help to bring positive change whenever possible.

I've been to India only once, for a week. Not in tourist zone. Chennai, Gorakpur, Lucknow...
People are getting rotten on the central streets, shitting in the city centre at 5 pm is ok as well. i've been hiding from such India in muslim districts because it's much cleaner there. I'm not supporting islam, same as christianity or hunduizm, but I've found those muslim hideouts and was feeling much better there. Travelling to India? Never again
