Given the lack of details, I'm guessing the media are lying again.
The women's team was offered an identical pay scale to the men and rejected it in favour of guaranteed money and various benefits that the men didn't get. Then the women won and realized that they could have gotten more money if they took the men's pay scale, sued, the media lied, and they managed to get $22 million out of a settlement from a frivolous lawsuit.
Now, if I have to guess, the women are getting the same pay scale as the men plus benefits. It's a safe assumption that what people are celebrating as equal pay is actually the women getting a much sweeter deal than the men.
