I'm saying this as somebody who was recently a left libertarian.
So, just take "trans women are women" as a jumping off point. I know it's controversial; but, it's also illustrative.
If you're entirely behind negating the distinction between trans women and women, you're basically negating Ruth Bader Ginsberg's entire career. She was a champion of rights endowed upon women - biological women - on the basis of sex.
Ginsberg was talking about biology, not identity.
The fact that the distinction between trans women and women can't be made without accusations of transphobia tells the full story.
If I know that you're trans, I can respect you, hear you, listen to you, and love you while still knowing that you're trans. That's not difficult for me.
Yet I'm transphobic if I think that we should be able, as a matter of language, to distinguish between trans and biological women (or men) in the minds of a lot of radical leftists.
It's apparently transphobic to love what it is to be a woman if you're a cis-male. You can't even ally to cis-women anymore without being accused of transphobia by leftists.
The crux of all of this is that the leftists know that they're bullshiting.
They'll tell you that no armed person can ever justifiably shoot an unarmed person. The moment that you ask whether or not a woman who is about to be overpowered and raped by an unarmed man had a right to use her gun, they retreat. Yet, they'll still view your rhetoric as misogynistic if you imply that men are generally physically stronger than women.
These are people who pride themselves on being on the side of science while wanting to make everything subjective.
