Gender Pay Gap in the US

in gender •  2 years ago

Women’s payment is less than men’s in the United States where male employees’ annual income is 82 percent of that of male employees. Across the US, the gender pay gap for younger employees is smaller and varies by region. According to a research by the Pew Research Center, women under 30 earn the same or more than men of the same age in 22 of the 250 largest U.S. cities.

In the urban areas of New York and Washington, young women earn 102% of what men of the same age earn. New York, Washington, D.C., and Los Angeles are the cities where young women earn the most compared to men of the same age. In Los Angeles-Long Beach-Anaheim, young women earned the same median income as men in 2019.

According to data from the Pew Research Center, the gender pay gap widens among young employees in the Midwestern metro areas. The average payment of young women in these areas who work full-time is about 90 percent of that of men of the same age.
