BREAK GENERATIONAL CURSES

I want to speak tonight about Generational Curses and how you can be set free
We are going to start by reading a couple scriptures to lay some Biblical foundation for what we are going to do today. There is Power and Freedom and Healing and Deliverance and Blessing in the Word of God.

Exodus 20:1-6
1 And God spake all these words, saying,
2 I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.
5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;
6 And showing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

Exodus 34:6-8
6 And the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, The LORD, The LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth,
7 Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, unto the third and to the fourth generation.
8 And Moses made haste, and bowed his head toward the earth, and worshipped.

Deuteronomy 5:6-10

10 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me and keep my commandments.

Deuteronomy 23:2
2 A bastard shall not enter into the congregation of the LORD; even to his tenth generation shall he not enter into the congregation of the LORD.

Numbers 14:18
18 The LORD is longsuffering, and of great mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression, and by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation.

Lamentations 5:7
7 Our fathers have sinned, and are not; and we have borne their iniquities.

Jeremiah 32:18
18 Thou shewest lovingkindness unto thousands, and recompensest the iniquity of the fathers into the bosom of their children after them: the Great, the Mighty God, the LORD of hosts, is his name,

I took some time here to read God’s Word to prove the point that God hates sin and when we disobey and do not repent He will visit the iniquity of the fathers unto the 3rd and 4th generation until the sin is dealt with.
Okay let me start by defining a curse…

What is a curse? A curse is a judgement that God pronounces on a person and their family line for disobeying His commandments and instructions that are listed in the Bible.

Once under a curse, doors are opened in your life for demons to enter in who will then begin their work of binding you and affecting your life and they bring disease, torture, misery and destruction on you and your children until the curse is broken and lifted in Jesus Christ Name.

Right now it is very possible that you and your children are under a curse as a result of either your own personal sins that you have committed in the past or as a result of something your parents or other ancestors did which violated God’s Laws and Commandments.

A misconception is that once we are saved through Jesus Christ all of our demons are cast out and all of our curses are broken, and all of our sicknesses are healed immediately but the Word of God does not say this happens automatically.

Isaiah 53:5 says “5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.”

Healing is available at the Cross – but how many fellow believers do you know who are depressed, battling sicknesses, taking prescription meds for insomnia and anxiety, battling cancer? Why are they still being tormented – why are they not healed?

Healing, Deliverance from demons, being set free of curses, receiving the Blessings of God are all available to the believer as a result of Jesus Christ sacrifice on the Cross of Calvary - but we must appropriate these promises by meeting the conditions set out in the Word to receive them.

The promises of God are available to us as Christians but we have to forgive others and confess personal and generational sins and break generational curses in Jesus Christ Name and then we can be healed and set free in Jesus Christ Name.
Curses are very serious and can run in a family for 3-4 generations or longer depending on the sin that was committed.
An example is the curse of idolatry which is for worshipping other gods.

If you or your ancestors have ever went to a psychic, had their palm’s read, received or performed a tarot card reading, played with a Ouija board, participated in a séance, read your horoscope, studied astrology, tried to contact your dead relative, water witchced, been involved in Wicca, Freemasonry, Eastern Star, prayed to dead saints or dabbled in witchcraft or the occult…these are examples of sins that will bring a 3-4 generational curse.
That means you are cursed, your children are cursed, your grand-children are cursed and your great-grand children are cursed by God until the curse is broken. Some curses can run in a family for as many as 10 generations. There is the “Curse of the Bastard” which is a result of conceiving a child outside of marriage

Deuteronomy 23:2
2 A bastard shall not enter into the congregation of the LORD; even to his tenth generation shall he not enter into the congregation of the LORD.

Curses bring judgement on a person and their family line and open the doors for demons to enter in and begin their work to kill – steal and destroy until the curses are dealt with and broken.
A red flag that you may be under a curse is if there is a particular sickness or other problem that you are dealing with and the same thing was experienced by a parent or a grandparent.

Now God says in His Word in Deuteronomy 11:26-28

Deuteronomy 11:26-28
26 Behold, I set before you this day a blessing and a curse; 27 A blessing, if ye obey the commandments of the LORD your God, which I command you this day:
28 And a curse, if ye will not obey the commandments of the LORD your God, but turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods, which ye have not known.

So the choice ours – The Blessing or The Curse. If we obey God we will be blessed. If we disobey Him and His Word we and our children will be judged and fall under a curse.

Let me repeat that curses are not automatically broken when we become saved. You can be saved and still be under a curse. In Galatians 6 verse 7 the Word says: “7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.”

As Pastor Win Worley of Hegewsich Baptist Church said in his booklet #24 – “The Sins of the Fathers” page 18
“The Law is still in effect for lawbreakers, saved or unsaved. The penalties still fall on the posterity of the rebellious. There is a difference, however for now we can gain release from the sure penalties of the Law, through the provisions made in Christ”

This is a true statement..

Apostle Ivory Hopkins of Pilgrims Ministry of Deliverance said it right also in a recent conference on deliverance:

“Galatians 3:13 Christ hath redeemed me from the curse of the Law and I don’t have to be under the bondage of any generational curse..But somebody say- We got to put the Word on it! We got to put the Blood on it! We got to put understanding on it! We got to put truth on it!”

We can be set free by confessing and repenting of personal and generational sins, forgiving others, and breaking the generational curses in Jesus Christ Name and casting out the demons so the curses can be lifted
