Role of women in society

The role of women in our society has changed significantly in the past three decades, women don’t have the same position as men though much progress has been made in the society to bring women to a stage where they have equal rights, equal pay, equal independence but still all of these are not being achieved, it may seem that women have a great deal of freedom and independence but yet the overall condition of women in the world today is not as it should be, still the bird flies with only one wing as the other is hampered and not fully functional.

Women have many important roles politically and economically, our topic is about how the inequality in gender effects the income level therefore this paper will point out the role of women socially and economically therefore a sustainable economic development is not complete without the inequality of gender in the work place particularly for women, empowering of women participation in the work place greatly enhances productivity and fosters economic growth as women represents a substantial underutilized force for sustainable development. The United Nations Population Fund argues that empowered women contribute to the health and productivity of families and communities and to improved aspects for the next generation, women can use decision making to provide an environment that is most suitable for economic progress woman's decision to participate in the paid labor force enables mothers to alleviate their families from such harsh condition as poverty that prove detrimental to economic growth, women create a beneficial environment where they improve the well being of off spring so that they can go on to survive and contribute to future economic growth. Many gender stereotypes roles have disappeared over time, however men and women still not equal when it comes to certain tasks. in today’s society its hard to be a woman rather than to be a man that’s because women still have hard time looking for jobs and being equal in the workforce in spite of the fact that in today’s society women and men are not that different in their roles in life, women can do about all of the jobs that men are able to do the problem is that they are getting paid less this Unequal situations for women differs greatly by region, country, culture, society, community and etc. furthermore , there are various conditions and regions where women are disadvantaged. The origin of the discrimination is sometimes religion, beliefs, cultural traditions or political interests. These excuses in some occasions encourage the unequal and discriminatory treatment of women, thus creating oppressed communities. Moreover, women’s categorization according to their race, sexual orientation, disabilities, economic status and some other factors triggers more and more discriminative actions in societies.
Woman in some respects have different areas of capacity than man and a distinctive view point partly as a result of upbringing and partly from the difference in physical make up and their unique function in society, the capacity and the contribution they can make to the general good of society are just as important as the capacity and contribution men make because when women are prevented from reaching their full potential, society is thrown off balance and suffers, The welfare and happiness of humanity will be realized when women and men coordinate and develop equally, Kofi Annan has stated “gender equality is critical to the development and peace of every nation".
