Growing up, when somebody dies, you see people gathered in that house weeping and mourning. Sincerely; you would see humanity in its entirety. If someone gave birth to newborn, you see people rhapsodizing in jubilant fit. Close friends, relatives and total strangers who happen to be around would share in such joy.

Today, people kill for just about any reason. While one may admit that the Nigerian case is one of extreme, this senseless and heartless genocide is global anomaly. England witnessed two terror attacks in 2017 alone already. ISIS is scoring in the killing madness. The machinery of killing in Nigeria is numerous and has proven too sophisticated and resilient for the government to handle over the years.
In Nigeria northeast, Bokoharam is slaughtering civilians. In Benue state and other quarters, herds men are killing farmers. Armed robbers are killing in our highways. Cultists are holding away in our higher institutions. Who else is killing? Some nameless gunmen of course, this is a societal menace that we must rise up and condemn.
The world has witnessed a tremendous and quantisizable level of change since then. Human life does not seem to work a dime now. There is this humorous scene that I watched with disbelieve in Bouston legal (a movie) where a radical lawyer argued that human life can be quantisized in terms of money, put the value at $6m. In other words, you could kill if you have $6m to buy your freedom. However, you do not need that much in Nigeria to take another’s life.
The evil days have come upon us. I never imagined the world would change so much in my life time. Can there be enough justification for this killing spree?
