This book is mainly for the undergraduate students especially in agricultural universities, but will also be helpful for the post graduate and doctoral students while clearing the fundamental concepts of the subject. It will also be useful for those students who will go for ICAR-JRF examinations after the completion of an undergraduate course in Agriculture or Horticulture. In this book, there are 23 Chapters, starting from the concept of heredity up to variation in chromosome numbers where I have not gone very elaborate way but tried to make the chapter simple and lucid and understandable. The syllabus of undergraduate students changes especially in agricultural universities where they face real difficulties in understanding the basics of genetics and cytogenetics. Many students feel that they are not able to continue their career in genetics simple because they cannot understand the subject genetics. I made it simple as far as possible. This book contains more than 300 questions and answers and a glossary of terminologies from where they can sharpen their knowledge I hope this book will be helpful for undergraduate and postgraduate students of Agricultural Universities and also for them who are going to sit for various competitive examinations.
