At the eastern edge of the Gibson Desert (Central Australia), there is a sandstone horst, Ayers Rock, considered to be “the world’s largest rock”, rising 348m over the desert plateau (its maximum height is of 863m), with a circumference of 9.4km. This is what erosion left from an ancient mountain.
