The Egyptian geological expert, Abbas Sharaki, said in a statement to RT that the Ethiopian "Renaissance Dam" is "still without electricity generation, and that all its gates are closed," noting that there is no third storage in the dam. According to Sharaki, satellites showed Thursday that "all the gates of the Ethiopian dam are closed and the water flows from the top of the middle passage, and there are no signs of a third storage, which is confirmed day after day that it cannot be achieved this year, and if it is done, it will be very limited and with a smaller amount of storage. The second is about 2 billion cubic metres.

The expert indicated that if they succeed in filling a third this year, it will only be “with the aim of calming the Ethiopian people, and promoting them that work is regular in the dam, as happened during the past two years in the first and second storage, which Ethiopia still claims that it has stored 13.5 billion cubic meters. To support this concept, the Ethiopian government held its meeting last month in the dam area. He added, "Although the operation may lead to emptying half of the current lake by about 4 billion cubic meters towards Sudan and Egypt to produce electricity, this step will increase tension as it is a continuation of the unilateral decisions on the part of the Ethiopian side."
