Dominic Lawson of the London Times pens an article (The Population Bomb is a Dud- so don't panic) that reminds us that the Maltusian pseudo-science that gave us Eugenics and charlatans like Paul Ehrlich of the "Population Bomb" is alive and well in Albion. This time it is the father of Boris Johnson, Stanley who is afraid of having too many people in the UK. It may be worth reminding people that Ehrlich confidently predicted in his book that "England would not exist in the year 2000," to say nothing of places like India that were going to starve to death long before that. In the meantime, India with a population twice as large as in 1977 when Ehrlich wrote his screed not only has been famine-free but is a net exporter of grain and food.

Malthusians are never innocent, in my view. They are the original race baiters and the people that justified the Irish famine. And wasn't just overseas. 100,000 Californians were forcibly sterilized at the peak of the eugenics craze.
