George Orwell - War - 1984

in georgeorwell •  7 years ago

Professor Richard D. Wolff comments on the U.S. war machine through the brilliant lense of George Orwell's analysis 70 years prior. The profit motive as greed leads to the rational framework that it matters not what is produced, therefore benefits are just as welcome as destructive activities. In this amoral framework war is a competing and justified alternative. The logical consequence of demanding military spending is to utilize military hardware, or else the cycle cannot be completed and renewed. Capitalism, war, greed, war.
