Why has not the price of STEEM exploded yet?
There are several reasons, most of which have already been widely discussed. However, one of the reasons is certainly that there is relatively little reason to keep STEEM / SBD apart from speculating on a price increase. You can not really do much with STEEM / SBD, except to exchange it in BTC and / or FIAT currency. Markets are in short supply.

One of the things that is absolutely needed is marketplaces that make sure you do not have to change STEEM / SBD to BTC / FIAT if you want to do something with it. Such marketplaces are the key to strengthening our currency and the only way to get away from a constant price drop.

Additional markets give people without creative vein the opportunity to win STEEM and thus influence this platform.

@ned talked about these circulating markets more than a year ago - unfortunately, not much has happened since then. We have reached a point where we can no longer just watch, but finally have to act ourselves. These were my thoughts when I started creating @steembay .

The history
The first thoughts about @steembay I already had before the Steemfest in Amsterdam, in September 2016, I then already spoke with some other people about this topic.

I had a clear vision - but unfortunately nobody was willing to invest time or money in this project. Since so many people are investing in projects related to STEEM, I was sure that they would also find partners for this project. But I should be wrong.

More than a year later, I did it all the more emphatically. And behold, I found a developer who could implement what I had in mind (Thanks to @schererf ). He also found solutions to some of the problems that were in our way.

We've decided to ignore all this and create a bot that recursively attaches to the blockchain, as fast as the blockchain allows and scalable until you can not register any more accounts on Steem. At the moment, we have five accounts that should be sufficient for the open beta.

How does Steembay work?
If you use #steembay as the first hashtag, our program recognizes your contribution and starts to manage it as an auction. This ends at the same time as the payment date of your contribution.
The auction owner can terminate it at any time by commenting on "end auction". Already placed bids remain.
The auction owner can cancel it at any time by commenting on "cancel auction". Already placed bids expire in this case.
This auction is managed by the comment function.
The auction starts with the comment "start 1" (This comment starts the auction with a minimum bid from a SBD).
The owner of the auction can not bid by himself.
Potential buyers can offer any amount with a new comment such as "bid 1.5".
A bid can be withdrawn via "revoke bid".
At the end of the auction, the winner will receive a congratulatory message.
Misformulated and / or late posted bids will be automatically rejected as well as bids from unauthorized users
