Kiss me First: second impressions

Well i have watched 3 of the 6 available episodes and I wish i could say that I thought it was getting better but honestly, it really isn't. Sorry! But i have tried to love this, i really have. It just isn't very good (go ahead and prove me wrong in the comments, that is a big part of why i write these things)

So the main character Leila has figured out that the leader of the online group the "Red Pills" named Adrian is maybe not a great dude. He seems to be leading all the members astray and encouraging them to kill themselves. It seems as though everyone inside the group has terrible issues and perhaps they have been targeted by "Adrian," who isn't even listed as a user on the system, as part of his group. He also has everyone outfitted with these collars that they can put on to enter the online game but it changes their experience in that they can feel pain and pleasure via having it on.... the "normal" users of the interface do not have this option and it is presumed they are unaware it even exists.

These collars don't lock on to the users and it is entirely up to them if they want to put them on or not, yet it appears that they all choose to put them on.

Adrian hasn't really been entirely defined as a character yet as his real world persona is only presented in 3rd person scenes where he seems to have CCTV footage of certain individuals inside of his group at all times. It remains to be seen who he is and perhaps that will make the series more interesting.

There might be some fantastic ending to all the episodes that really sums up the entire series and if and when that happens i will eat my words, gladly. However, at the time I feel as though this series is actually quite boring and therefore I cannot give my stamp of approval. I know that a couple of you are already watching it and if you feel differently please enlighten me. So far, after 4 episodes I feel as though the series as a whole is actually very very slow.

Don't get me wrong ok? I really want this to be a great series. I just don't think it is thus far.

Spoilers may be present 😂

Kiss Me First‘s early episodes hint at this underlying darkness while primarily exploring the fledgling, quite rocky relationship that develops between Tess and Leila; for a while, it smacks of an admittedly less optimistic version of Mirror‘s “San Junipero,” these two repressed young women finding a much-needed release in one another that’s terabytes more intoxicating that anything Azana could render. But somewhere around the fourth hour of its 6-episode first season, the show becomes something markedly different and far less interesting: a tech-thriller overflowing with bugs it can’t patch. As impressively as Azana’s expanses are conceived and executed (especially given the small-screen budget), none of Kiss Me First‘s digital escapism can match the more natural thrill of watching its two leads find in one another a safe haven that might be the real deal. I think it's an okay series. It just requires patience.

thanks pal. I will finish watching it :)

@gooddream I saw this on Netflix a few nights ago and almost started to watch it! I may give it a go for the first two or three episodes but like you, if it cannot hold my attention, I stop watching! Thanks for all of your wonderful reviews!

I hear you. I gave up in Episode 1 :-(

I think is a Netflix thing they always appear uncorrelating from the start but if you continue you will surely get to love it at the end, i had a similar experience with the Iron fist.

Hi gooddream. Glad I haven't started to watch this yet. If it is slow then I would've stopped watching already. Trust your judgement as you haven't really been wrong yet.

it looks interesting that series, it catches my attention as it acts Adrian
