So I have been going on about how I enjoy how the Krabi riverfront (this is in Thailand by they way) has undergone a bit of an overhaul to attempt to change the town from being just "and alternative to staying at the beach" to being the artistic mecca of the south. I support this notion, but then there are things like this.
I mean, that't not bad right? It looks pretty cool and it no doubt took a long time to put together. I can appreciate it and I am happy it is here. However, it is meant to be a fountain, and it hasn't functioned properly in years.
You see, the Krabi government has this wonderful capacity to do everything half-assed, and there is no doubt in my mind that this new artistic promotion thing they are doing will be handled in a similar fashion. I mean, the new pieces of art get all the attention and the mayor and his pals will turn up for photos and what not but this massive stainless-steel fountain that is in the middle of the most popular park in the city hasn't worked in ages.
it's nice but would be nicer if it worked
I don't know how much stainless steel costs or even if this sculpture is actually made of it (you never can tell over here) but it was more than free and therefore, especially given its prominent position in the dead-center of the park, the least they could do would be to have it actually work.
They even have multiple plaques and everything
The real reason I am showing this is because I get upset (perhaps a bit too much so) when the government takes our money in the interest of beautifying a public space and then just leaves it to die whilst working on other projects. Was this thing ever lovely...? I mean i guess so: I don't have much of an artistic eye. But one thing is for certain: Without the water that it was intended to have, you could cook on it in the unobstructed Thai sun.
Can you slide down without breaking any legs? Just wondering.
I know what you mean. These things cost fortunes, maybe they could help the citizens with a lower tax or something instead of projects likes these.

@gooddream, Yes, this is reflecting an amazing piece but for sure if it would work with it's complete potential then it would be more attractive for sure. And without water flow decoration, we cannot find the beauty in just Fountain Tool.
Wishing you an great day and stay blessed. 🙂

Having there that font without working is a waste of material, even is stainless steel or not. The thing is, without water I can't even tell if it's a beautiful piece of art or not, because without water it's incomplete.
