A British man known as a “wizard” in his home city claims he was drugged and sexually abused by Ghislaine Maxwell in a rambling civil suit filed Thursday against the former socialite.
George Vernon, who goes by the name “Merlin” in his hometown of Bristol, England, claims the abuse happened when he was drugged by Maxwell in London in the early 2000s, according to the handwritten suit filed in Manhattan federal court.
He claims he was then “taken by plane to New York where I was bribed to have sex with Maxwell … at Epstein’s apartment,” the suit states.
He’s seeking a total of $10 million in damages for mental and physical suffering, according to the suit. An attorney for Maxwell did not respond to request for comment.
In 2016, the wizard of Bristol was sentenced to a year in prison for drunkenly hurling racial epithets at a Muslim neighbor and threatening to kill him, according to the Mirror.
His attorney argued that Vernon had abstained from drinking for 25 years, but had gotten drunk before the altercation.
“He accepts he has very little memory about events that night, other than he cannot believe he conducted himself in such a way,” his attorney said, according to the Sun.
“He has promised that he will not touch alcohol ever again,” he added.
Reached by email Thursday, Vernon declined to comment about his suit, other than to say his life was in danger in the UK.
