Awesome Present for Hansik House from Sister In-Law!

Stoked

I came up with the Hansik House logo in 2015 when we first started our cultural podcast. We had big aspirations at the time, hoping to change the way Koreans and Korean Americans/Foreigners interact in the world. Being a designer, the first little mountain to climb was of course deciding on a name and logo.

The image absorbs the corner imagery style of the South Korea flag, variants of solid black hashes. Each represents a cardinal direction and corresponding element such as East-Sky. I took those geometries and made one that looks like a double H, “|-|-|”, slanted enough to be recognizably similar to the flag and at a bit of a sharper angle to be readable as a type of H.

After getting married this past December, my sister in-law sent me this from Korea as a birthday gift-

Painted and bent steel for the white backing and cut (likely a water-jet) black-painted metal for the logo and writing (‘Hansik House’ in Korean characters).

It has been almost 3 years since starting the podcast and eventually transitioning onto Steemit with my weekly-to-daily content. We’ve always toyed around with ideas of making unique swag and trying to grow the “brand’s” name, but like most hobbies and pet projects, never really made its way to physical form. So it’s no surprise that I was stunned and ecstatic to receive such a gift.

Huge thanks to my awesome new sister in Law “W-K.” I’ll be cashing out a good amount of Steem Dollars for some BBQ the next time I see her in Seoul.

I really wondered what it means when I first saw it :)
Now I arrive at the answer. I think it's a great idea. It is quite creative and this logo is very aesthetic. As a designer, I can say that you look great. You're very lucky to have this wonderful gift
I'm sorry for my bad english. I hope you understand

Totally agree! Good english by the way so keep interacting with no doubt...! Better than mine. Cheers!

English is wonderful and thank you for the wonderful comment! =)

So nice present! By the way always liked your logo @hansikhouse it's more than strong and has a lot of power. In some way when I saw you talking in the Steemfest could understand why the logo was like that... definition, clear messages in your thoughts and firmness.

Hahaha thanks my man @leotrap! We knew when we designed it that it was the one =)

This gift looks really high-quality and so 'clean'. The Korean latters give it much better look than 'Western' letters probably would. One of those treasures which you wouldn't want to sell ;)

I've been considering auctioning it off for more Steem.... ;)
