Why you need Gina in your steem life
There have been a few instances recently where people (other species also) have remarked on missing comments or posts from me. Specially as I am on a negative reputation score at the moment, some of the front end interfaces like @steemit and @busy.org have made it difficult for users to see my replies to them.
Now, there is a great tool called @ginabot, if you use it already, then this post may be a bit superfluous to you. But for anyone who doesn't use @ginabot yet, it's worth a look.
What is @ginabot
To put it simply, it is a bot that will track any actions you set it to track and notify you via Discord when that event occurs. If you haven't singed up to Discord yet, you can do that here:
For example, if you want a notification each time your favourite author writes a post, then @ginabot will do that for you. So it's important to add anyone that you don't want to miss content from... (hint hint.. nudge nudge...)
It can even track specific words or tags. So if you wanted to track each time someone mentions your favourite crypto, then @ginabot will send you a message when that happens.
Or you can track each time a post or comment includes your username... or even someone else's username! It's a great way to stay in the loop on what's going on on the steem blockchain.
How do I sign up?
The sign up process requires a few steps, but it is definitely worth the effort. I currently use it to track any posts using the #upvoteplankton tag, to see when new posts appear.
You can get detailed information on how to sign up on this post from @ginabot
https://steemit.com/introduceyourself/@ginabot/hi-i-am-gina-i-m-here-to-help
You will need to have the Discord App on your phone and a Discord Account. Both are easy to do and free.
Once you sign up and send a small coin transfer from you wallet with a memo (that @ginabot will provide), you will be all ready to go. I did mine a while ago, and you can see the transfer here... the money did come back!
Who runs @ginabot and is it reliable
The buildteam recently took over the management of @ginabot and it looks like they have the resources to keep this very useful bot up and running. You can find more details about it here:
https://steemit.com/ginabot/@ginabot/public-announcement-ginabot-has-joined-buildteam
What do you think of @ginabot?
If you already use it, I would love to hear what you think. Are there better alternatives? If you haven't used it and start to do so, share you experience in the comments below.
I hope this post was useful. If you liked it, resteem it!
Have a great weekend, maybe even venture off chain for a while...
@kabir88 I joined steemit just last week and I'm ever so thankful one of the first posts that caught my eye was your why follow a -11 . I must say I find your perspective refreshing and inspiring. You see I have a habit of hastily becoming an exposer of bullshit and fuckery in any given system I find myself in. The steemians shall only no me as a, plankton with some quality posts, cool followers, and mostly naive interpretation of the ecosystem and economics of this place when in fact I am certainly a shark, a hungry one. I was determined to not entertain these compulsions I have to be the voice for the downtrodden including myself on steemit as I was afraid of losing traction or seeding bad impressions. I was so new here I honestly didn't know if it was safe to follow you lol. Again, I'm glad I did, I see your up to -10 and that's good for your exposure, but what I must say is I see you as my personal hero of steemit thus far. I'm well aware of the flag war and what went down and commend you for having not just the bravery to wage a battle but the composure and honour in what some may see as your defeat. For me you won, and if this place succeeds, and becomes a voice for the other jaded content providers of the world your story will be told and you will be a steemit hero to many more. For a serial shitalker and non asskisser I couldn't help but be brutally honest about my perception of you and what will likely become our shared struggles to swim in these deep currents.

Man, I don't know where to start @skramatters
This is me right now:
Your words are touching and I am touched (in a consensual manner)
I hope you stick around. There are too many dead fish in this steem ocean. I see @lyndsaybowes has already spotted you and given you some support. If you haven't done so yet, you should try the #introduceyourself tag to get some attention and also the #upvoteplankton tag which both myself and @newageinv review to give upvotes when we can.
I hope to see more of your content and comments going forward.
All the best.. a very emotional @kabir88

Consensually touched lol, be a great band name. I have indeed done my #introduceyourself as well as #upvoteplankton, And thanks to this post got the discord app which was previously a total mystery to me. I'd had people say join discord but I was not aware this was an external app, which is now a duh moment. Nonetheless, you will see on my intro I'm here to stay, so thanks for all the intelligible and helpful posts. And I look forward to seeing you around, Dead fish stink! Who wants that bloated mess floating about?

Allseeingewe, I need your help. The internet and free speech may depend on it.
Free speech through mass social media has successfully been squashed. The blockchain, and steemit, have to be introduced to "normies" Here is my post with details

Without having discord app installed, is there any option to get notifications of a specific tag?

Not that I know of, you can have notifications from @busy.org when you login and I think @partiko has some notification options, but I don't use @partiko much as it doesn't allow flagging!

We will allow flagging soon! Stay tuned!

As does steempeak. Which is my favorite UI to date. But it's worth getting on discord for the ginabot alone. To say nothing of the multiple channels available for steem communities to mingle. I live on discord. There are a lot of opportunities there to meet new people you don't get in the comment section.

No, there is nothing better. However, steempeak has a lot of the features built into their user interface. So it's nice to be able to just hop on and see a lot of the reactions to your posts and track wallet transactions, upvotes, etc. right on the main page. As you would see on FB or something.
But Ginabot has a lot more variability, customized features, and a more thorough set of options to choose from for tracking. So I use both, frankly. And that makes me a happy camper. I'll actually be doing a Gina bot tutorial soon, as "she" was recently acquired by BuildTeam - a blockchain company who develops apps for the steem blockchain.
