How to grow Ginger

Ginger is a wonderful spice
In this video I'll show you how to grow it

Ginger is usually seen in the stores
in the form of a root or as a powder,
but here's how the ginger plant looks like when
its fully mature

If we remove the pot and the soil, you can see the
ginger root. That's what you see in the markets.

So, you get one of these little
pieces of root, and you're going to
put it in the best soil that you can get.
We recommend cow dung soil, one hundred
per cent composted cow dung.

You can use a clay pot, a sandbag,
or a garden bed, whatever you prefer.

When the summer heat starts,
the plant will sprout,
then it will become a fully mature plant,
in the winter it will turn yellow and everything
above the ground will die
but, the root is itself alive and
it will sprout again during the summer next year.

Here's an example. After a full year cycle of
growth, the ginger root is sprouting again

The ginger plant is very easy to harvest,
you just literally pull it out of the ground,
then you take little chunks,
they break off very easily,
and then you reserve some of them
for planting again.

Very simple process.

Here is what we harvested from one sandbag
in one year of growth.

Always remember that you need the best soil that
you can get, to guarantee your ginger production.
