I never sawed ginseng before! has tons of utilities, a sacred medicine

Yes, it is quite good and worth reading up on. Even if you cannot find the raw stuff, the extracts also have many of the same benefits or even different ones.

I'm guessing the one lying down ^_^

almost =P

It's amazing they have a whole festival on ginseng! So many varieties I never knew existed - I just thought there was one kind!
All those wonderful products and such great deals! Keep you healthy and happy!

Thanks. The wild North American stuff is apparently the best. It doesn't grow in the wild anywhere around Asian anymore because they have foraged it out of existance. I do like all the ways to prepare it. I think the modern dostillation method is best to avoid changing the chemistry, but the koreans also pressure steam it which makes it red and have been doing this forever believing its better to store it this way.

Awesome!! Powerful stuff! I want to grow it here but I'm just one zone away from it's growing area. I could make it work with a lot of attention and love but I'm not sure I have the time/energy to put into it right at this time. Maybe in a year or two after I get more established. I'd love to go to a market like this. What an amazing herb and to see it in this amount....such abundance. Incredible!

I think with a bit of extra effort if it is a little to cold, it is possible. There are several different varieties. I know it grows natually in Russia and Canada, so unless you live north of there, you are good.

I'm not exactly sure what the reasoning is....I don't believe it is the cold because it does grow here in NC but off towards the outer banks. I don't know if it was maybe the amount of rainfall we get? I'll have to look into it. I'm not going to give up. I still want to give it a try. If it doesn't work then at least I'll have learned. :)

Thank You!

I love going to festivals! Thanks for the tour!)) And the photo with ginseng (and the idea of the organizers) is gorgeous!

They put a lot of thought into this festival. They have the budget because ginseng is huge business in Korea.

A great review here of the market my friend.
Ginseng seems to be a medical cure all.
Congrats on your purchases.
Blessings!

Thank you.
It's definitely one of the better roots. I think some people don't like the taste which is quite understandable.

My grandmother used to say that if anything doesn't taste nice or bitter, then it's good for your body. I think she was right.
Blessings!

Whenever I see something or hear something about ginseng, I will now forever immediately think of the TV show, "Appalachian Outlaws." It's one of the strangest shows I've ever seen! This is a really great post, with lots of beauty in the pics!

I've seen one or two episodes of that. I'm guessing they are either stealing ginseng or threatening people who enter their territory to pick ginseng. Wild ginseng is rare and expensive. I know in some areas the authorities put up signs that say they found it and have died it blue because that ruins the chances of it being used in traditional recipes.

I was disappointed to find out that they cancelled the show after season 2 I think, and the word from some is that it was because it had gotten too dangerous.

Those Appalachian people poaching the "sang" as they call it, aren't ones to screw around with, and when that really mean dude and his thugs came up from somewhere in the south and started taking over everyone's sang, that was the end of the series.

I hope someday soon they go back and give an update!

What a cool experience! That festival looks beautiful!

I will definitely be going back next year.
