There are many people in need. No-one can help everyone but if we all do a bit, you'll be surprised how quickly the world changes.

It's great to continue to read about people on this platform doing great things! Happy to be a part of such a giving community and hoping I will be able to do the same someday. Thanks to all of you!

That's exactly how it should work in the real world.
Community grassroots taking action - being much more effective than government bureaucracies. Charity has also been hijacked, centralized by unsavory NGOs and individuals.

It's good to see benevolence happen in the Steemit world as designed by our Creator.

Thanks for reading. 😎

This is awesome! Brilliant that Steem is able to make such a incredible impact. I am so excited for what the future holds!! :) By the way, I really like that first picture! Did you make it?

Hi, thanks for the support, the image was made by @artwatch and came out of a logo competition

That's so cool. Haha I suppose that's one way to get people to make some unique logo's for Steemit lol :P

im excited about steem and i want to see how great potential have to rise up to other crypto

This is a good plan

Thank.

Oh wow this is great thanks to everyone who donated. Steemit is truly one of the best communities on the internet today. I can only imagine what this place will be like in 10 years.

I couldn't agree with you more.

I love the possibilities of how this platform can unite us around the world, and empower one another with ideas, advice and even currency. Here's to all that's yet to come!

This is AWESOME!

Love what you all are doing. Big respect!

Thanks for putting this list together, I was aware of some of the authors but not all. Cheers

Hehe, yes your logo contest was quite sccessful. You chose what I think is the best logo for giving-steem and your cause (which I also wrote in your post). Then I started to LOVE the submission from @artwatch who was runner-up. It's just perfect for my use. So I paid the guy. Everyone happy : )

Actually dinoo, would you mind using a different logo because i'm not all that happy? Perhaps you could run a logo competition of your own, it's great for involving the artists in this community. I understand from your posts that you are giving liquid steem from some of your posts to the @adra charity. That is marvelous. But perhaps using an adra logo might be more appropriate? I ran the logo competition in good faith, I am surprised that @artwatch has resold the image and will look a bit more into this. I'm very happy that you are giving steem but there is a difference between what the Giving Steem initiative is trying to do and what adra is doing. Please, would you mind simply choosing a different logo?

Hm, that's a bit surprizing actually. In your post you state clearly, that the logo of @artwatch is not your choice, probably because it is a bit too complex and not really logo-ish. Therefore you chose a different one. With no word it is mentioned, that the submission of @artwatch is now your property. That was his view as well. It was not claimed by you, so he offers it with his usual terms. Pay a fee and inform him about the utilization. That's what I did. Also, I'm not really using it for @adra. When @adra posts or I post about my work at @adra, I use the ADRA logo. I'm currently using it primarily as my own profile picture, as it reflects perfectly what I'm doing and planning to do with another project. Yes, please have a look into the matter, as I don't necessarily understand your claim.
Edit: Ok, I correct that with not mentioning you won't use the design of @artwatch.

I have sent a message to @artwatch. If you search my wallet history, you'll clearly see a payment to @artwatch 17 days ago with the memo "Agreed additional steem for open use of giving steem submission - thank you." I made an arrangement with @artwatch in good faith and paid for the use of the image despite it not winning the competition. You can clearly see from my posts how I am using them in combination to help create the Giving Steem initiative and I do indeed have every claim.

I'm sure you can understand that someone who ran a competition to commission the work of artists to help build an initiative and paid them all in good faith would feel that it was not appropriate for someone else to co-opt the use of those images? Can you not run your own competition to produce your own images? I appreciate you like the image, that was the idea. I'm sorry this has happened....I don't understand why you would want to use an image that was already in use but I guess you didn't mean any harm.

I was indeed under the impression, that the image was not in use and you only claimed the actuall winning logo. As I liked the image I wanted to give it some good use to not be wasted. That was my mistake. Thanks for the clarification, I will use something else then.

@dinoo I am pretty upset that this has happened, but not with you. Perhaps you could tell me more about the project you wanted to use the image for? If they are aligned closely enough then maybe it can work out. Certainly giving steem to adra is not in alignment but perhaps your new project will be. Anyway, I'm happy to see if you like.

Haha, you will laugh now, actually, well, let's chat about that on steem.chat

Ok great :)

Thank you so much for a great chat @dinoo. It was a pleasure to meet you and i'm very excited to help you with your superb idea for helping Steemians to give steem to one and other! It is most fitting for you to use the logo you love, founded as your idea is in the integrity and utility afforded to us by the steem chain. It sounds like progress to me, perfect.

Upvoted and RESTEEMED!

Thank you

@benjojo, it is really nice to see an initiative like this here on Steemit, so thank you. I read @stellabelle's post about this being a "gift economy" a few weeks back, and wholeheartedly agree... and I've been a bit saddened by the recent rash of "self upvoting of comments" that's suddenly showing up here.

Yes, there are many in need, but it's surprising how much even a small amount of support can help someone.

I wholeheartedly agree with you. It is like the act of giving, the recognition is the greater gift. Try not to worry too much about the comment upvotes. It is the design right now, so it is fair enough in many ways. However, our culture is evolving and I think eventually, there will be a reduction in this kind of thing even though it is possible.

great project you got going, well done keep up the good work

thank you very much, will do.

Great work @benjojo. Your efforts are highly appreciated . Keep it up. 👍

Honestly, it's a rewarding thing for me....it's just enough that it feels right. The really important thing is that people can see and learn what this technology can do. How it can bring down barriers, how directly, securely and speedily we can do things like this. How incredibly empowering it can be to direct value to precisely where you think it needs to go. Other than helping fellow Steemians, their relatives or friends, that is the most important reason for any of this :)

It is a fantastic idea to publish this summary @benjojo. I believe that it would be better to write about this when stories are published so we can upvote.

I am aware that many people are in need. So, my strategy is to give at least 10% of all earnings made on this platform and earned by trading and investing in cryptocurrencies.

Wow @cryptogirl1 that is incredibly generous of you. I imagine a heck of a lot of good will be accomplished with that. It is actually quite difficult to find the right kinds of situations to donate something to. There can be a fair amount of time before a summary is even relevant. Perhaps I can do more to raise the profile of the stories / people I'm trying to help.....I'll certainly think on it. The summaries are attempts to be transparent and also to demonstrate what can be accomplished.

This post made me realsie how cynical and I would say a tad suspicious I have been about many things, but specifically technology and as I am new to the party Steemit. This post and the comments that follow gave me a bit of hope and eroded some of the cynicism. In the physical world I practice generosity as much as I can but I am reliant on my intuition and that is removed in the online world but it seems that the ‘transparency’ Steemit offers and its governance might re address the power and bring some much needed light. And individual like you, well, your great. I am very pleased to stumble across your post this morning and will enjoy looking through the rest of your posts and following how you progress. All the best to you benjojo and all the good work that your doing and promoting..

great to see the giving and how you target it

I'm very glad you are happy about where I'm directing the SBD so far. I give it quite a bit of thought.

i respect your decisions and of course it is up to you and none of my business - i simply support good natured conduct

Bless you Sir for your heart of kindness @benjojo
You are a gem in/for the world.
Thank you very much.

Thanks so much @benjojo. This is really a great service to the community and it was a pleasant surprise to be the recipient of your generosity. :)

Resteeming this to 12,000+ followers.

good job...

Nice post

This is simply beautiful and i'm glad to be apart of such an amazing platform. The potential it has to link the world together is something to work towards. I love the fact they are always giving back and actively working in communities around the globe to make things better.

Thanks for the mention!

My pleasure.

Very good . . .

Awww! Showing the love and rewarding nice behavior. Love it!

It's all about love....but it's also showing how love, the people and things most important to you, can be protected by the steem community and it's social economy. If love is directing a greater proportion of the world's wealth, what do you think will happen to our world, societies and culture?

I agree, @benjojo! Other social media platforms have turned so dark in content, and filed with corporate advertisements. And I love the idea of people working WITH people, not for them. More power to us!

I just read your Giving Steem initiative. The idea of adding an SBD and Steem "donations" savings account button really is a fantastic idea.

This is a kind, generous and loving thing you do. It would absolutely benefit everyone to participate, even in small ways! People may not donate their tiny fractions, thinking they are not making an impact. But just like upvoting, even fractions turn into useful votes.

The power of a few will turn into a juggernaut. At some point you will create an unstoppable force. We CAN change the world!!

Thank you so much for your support. I'm especially thrilled that you understand how every act of giving, no matter how small, is incredibly valuable. Sometimes the tiniest expressions of love can have the most impact, the most meaning.

This is amazing idea !!!
