The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission sued Ripple, Garlinghouse, and co-founder Chris Larsen for the sale of XRP in December 2020, which the Securities Watchdog said was an unregistered security offer. Ripple has disputed the SEC's results, emphasizing that XRP is not a security.
