Today, Corning announced the sixth edition of Gorilla Glass. Corning scientists have been able to develop a "completely new material" that can better survive multiple hiccups. The tests show that the new Gorilla Glass 6 protective glass survived 16 drops of one meter high before being broken. This appears to be twice the number of hiccups Gorilla Glass 5 can withstand.
"Gorilla Glass 6 is a completely new glass structure that can be chemically enhanced to give it higher levels of pressure than is possible with Glass Gorilla 5." This will make Gorilla Glass 6 more resistant to damage ".
The new glass has a different chemical composition than Gorilla Glass 5. This new formulation makes it easy to increase the pressure levels chemically, thus enabling the new glass Gorilla Glass 6 layer to be more resistant to damage.
According to Corning, people drop their phones 7 times a year, with more than 50% of hiccups occurring at a height of one meter. Corning has placed its glass in more than 6 billion devices manufactured by more than 45 prominent brands. Check the full press release at the source link.
