Artist Statement " The trickle down economics of convenient single use disposable drinking water bottles is simple: The people ask for water and get empty plastic bottles. Our sand-carved glass sculpture has been created to help raise awareness about the impact of single-use plastics, and micro-plastics, which are impacting our marine ecosystems. Our work is inspired from a desire to create thoughtful discussion with the use of imagery which has been selected to convey the importance of eliminating plastic pollution from the oceans before it is too late. Experience our work as a journey from understanding the problems we face, through acceptance of the scale of the issue, and go forth with a personal determination to change our course by making changes to our society starting with our personal lives and in our shared perceptions. We can not pollute what we do not inhabit without consequence, we will be consumed by our negative habits. Join us on our mission to reduce our use of disposables by repurposing instead of purchasing and recycling so that we may learn to live in peace with our world's natural habitats."
