Hidden Gems Of Magnificent Moscow Part 2 : The Izmailovsky Market.steemCreated with Sketch.

in globaladventure •  7 years ago

In Part 1 of this series, I wrote about the Troitse-Sergieva Lavra at Sergiev Posas which is one of the largest monastery in Russia. In this post, I will write about the Izmailovsky Market in Moscow.

Whenever I visit a new country, I normally like to bring home a few souvenirs as remembrance of my visit there. Most of the time, I will buy these souvenirs from shops located in the main streets of the city. At Moscow, I was very fortunate to stumble on the Izmailovsky Market which is located just 10 minutes from the Partizanskaya Metro Station. This market is an amazing place with its stunningly beautiful architecture. There you can find a whole range of affordable (definitely cheaper than in the city center) of Russian souvenirs in a traditional setting. I spent almost the whole morning there and went away very happy with my purchases.

A wide range of Russian dolls are on sale here.

A lot of the propaganda messages used previously by the Government are now converted into fridge magnets.

The serving trays are beautifully painted.

Hand painted lacquer bowls and household wares will add an elegant touch to your kitchen.

Exquisite jewelry boxes add an air of grace to the market.

A paraphernalia of Soviet style souvenirs.

Traditional headgear beautifully designed with pearls and beads.

Some of the stalls there are wholesalers who sell their products to other souvenir shops.

Add to your jewelry collection with the bargains that can be found here.

The range of Russian souvenirs that can be found in this market include hand crafted wooden toys.

A vendor counting her earnings amidst the display of handicrafts and porcelain knickknacks.

You can even buy fresh fruits at the Izmailovsky Market.

The hustle and bustle of the market with its traditional architecture.

@paps

I hope that you will get to visit Russia to know more about your own background.

Actually, for that, I need to go to White Russia, but they were all part of Soviet union a few years ago ^^

🙂That is a great reason

The fact that they have no control over their destiny.

Your profile fascinates me I'm trying to limit who I'm following but I'm gonna follow you. I need to start teaching myself to paint asap for therapeutic reasons, can you give me some tips?

The market is interesting. Those crafts are so beautiful.

Thank you for dropping by. The crafts are beautiful and the prices are also lower compared to other places.

Yeah! Price is low. That's important!

Nice pics, when I upgrade my contract I think I need to get a better phone with a great camera. Stock pics are great but not as personal. Those Russian dolls are cool - are they the ones that get smaller and smaller like with different layers? Also I was surprised that the government still has so much propaganda going on. I thought that was a thing of the past and the country is now liberated and totally part of the European Union. Both in terms of culture as well as politics and economics.

Nice place and lots of souvenirs

There are lots of choices for you at this beautiful market.

I would like to try this fresh food :)

It does look so delicious doesn't it?

Yes :)

Have a great day my friend.

Thank you!!

You are welcome. Stay positive always.
