Global Warming: Today's Malthusian Trap

in globalwarming •  7 years ago

Leftists would like to think that carbon taxes and climate accords would diminish the impact climate change has on the world, despite the fact that the U.S. only contributes about 16% of worldwide greenhouse gas emissions annually. I liken the current climate crisis to the issue of the day over two hundred years ago: the Malthusian trap, in which pioneering economist Thomas Malthus predicted our fate would be due to unsustainable population growth. Both global warming and the Malthusian trap are exacerbated by positive feedback loops and triggered by economic development and technology and, in my view, both solved by the very mechanisms that cause them.

I'm glad that someone finally points out that population growth is slowing and at some point is likely to stagnate completely.
