it used to be the case, that corporations had to demonstrate that they were operating in the public interest, or they would not get their corporate charter renewed. now that corporations are people, not renewing their charter would be like execution. if, though, corporations are people, wouldn't that make their shareholders, slave owners? there must be a way to stop them from hurting us. maybe, instead of fighting corporate personhood, the abolition of slavery of the corporate persons could be used to force them to stop aggressing against us and take responsibility for their actions. i wonder if that could work?
Interesting theory. That would make the corporations free from shareholder influence, but the shareholders need to be pleased in order to keep the corporation afloat.
thus creating a disconnect in the mechanism that allows the corporation to continue to function. the due diligence to generate profit for the shareholders is the common justification used by corporate officers to use all means possible to accomplish this goal. this is what leads corporations, if they be persons, to act as psychopaths, endangering the public health to profit the owners of these corporate persons. frankly, i don't care if the corporations begin acting in the public interest, or if they simply cease to be, as functioning entities, but one or the other must happen if our economic system is to be kept from destroying our nutritional systems. it would be better for the people, in my view, that they be turned back to the interest of the people, rather than to have a full scale collapse, brought about by everyone being too ill to continue going to work for the economic system. i have prepared myself to survive either way, as i have no influence over the government view, and status of corporate personhood.
