Jesus and the gnosis: Now there was a Pharisee, a man named Nicodemus who was a member of the Jewish ruling council. John 3:1

The gospel of John recounts a unique moment that is not found in any other gospel, the meeting between Jesus and Nicodemus at night after the wedding at Cana.
It cannot be said with certainty whether Nicodemus, the pharisee, approached Jesus that night moved by the gift of fear of the Lord (constancy, firmness, devotion, equanimity) or by simple spiritual curiosity, but what is known with certainty is that they discussed something very important, the second birth, the birth in the fire and the spirit, the gnosis.
The Gospel of John tells how Nicodemus presented before Jesus:
"Now there was a Pharisee, a man named Nicodemus who was a member of the Jewish ruling council. He came to Jesus at night and said, ´Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the signs you are doing if God were not with him´" John 3:1-2.
And with these words from Nicodemus, Jesus responded to him about the need to see the Kingdom of God. The change of heart or the second baptism, through the action of the Holy Spirit, is one of the central themes of the Christian religion, because this change is access to the contemplative life, that is, to the meditation focused on the eternal attributes of God. The access to the dimension of truth and the worship of the wisdom depends on this spiritual change.
And in this mysterious meeting, Nicodemus, although he was a notable Jew and very knowledgeable about the scriptures, could not hide his ignorance and his bewilderment; the kingdom of God, the dominion or empire of God's perfections, is mysterious and elusive to those bound by the thoughts of the flesh. This dialogue was a demonstration of how the flesh opposes the truths of the spirit, and how the knowledge of God is beyond the reason of man.
