“Beware of the wolf in sheep’s clothing: is a saying that actually stems from a sermon Jesus gave in the new testament.
And I would agree that there’s wisdom in the words; “beware of false prophets.”
The story of the wolf of course, is where he wears a sheep skin to infiltrate the flock only to destroy it by taking some of it’s members as prey.
The problem in this world is that the wolf can come in many forms.
• They will find ways to “take” from you without any value in return.
• They will find ways to manipulate you by playing on your emotions and guilt you into doing something you don’t really want to do. (giving to some bogus charity for example)
• Of course, they will appear to be very nice, but once you put up any resistance to their message, they show their teeth and who they really are. They may even threaten you.
• One of the most telling signs that you’re dealing with a wolf is that their story is full of holes and mistruths.
Some of these wolves are so “professional” they can beat even the best “wolf-detectors.” Admittedly, I’ve been taken a couple of times. Once was by a “friend” whom I had know for five years.
It was a real estate deal that looked a bit too good; however, he had all of the paperwork to back it up. It was ALL faked!
Anyway, that mistake cost me over $20,000, but fortunately, it wasn’t an amount of money that would change my life. (that’s a lesson is good risk management)
Another time, early in my online career, I was taken by a "guru" that promised to coach and train me to bring me massive profits. I'm embarrassed to say how much that cost, so I'll leave it for another day. I now know what to look for in those false promises!
Having a healthy skepticism is a good thing. That said, my healthy skepticism has cost me as well, when I’ve avoided investments, like Bitcoin about five years ago. (that’s been corrected)
So the question becomes, how do we avoid being taken advantage of and choosing the right opportunities?
One of the best ways is to ask questions. As many as you can think of in fact. Get all the answers you need to make an informed decision.
As importantly, look at the track record of the person or people you are dealing with. What have they done in the past?
Have they been successful? Is the venture they are part of successful or a risky start-up?
The same is true when starting an online business, whether on your or as an affiliate partner. I will usually suggest people get started to learn building an online business as an affiliate. From there, you can venture on your own.
Why?
• It costs less and therefore your risks of time and money are less.
• You can often plug into a proven, working system.
• Hopefully, you’ll get some help from some people involved.
• You don’t need to create products.
• You need far less technical expertise. (none in some cases)
But even when you start an affiliate business, you want to be sure the products you represent are congruent with your own personal way of thinking.
Although, as a person about to venture into a new realm, we often just don’t know what questions to ask.
But, I have a solution for you. It’s a simple one.
It starts with a FREE report; 10 Questions You Absolutely Must Ask Before Choosing a Home-Based Business.
As I said, it’s completely FREE and gives you an excellent starting point to shed the wolves out there of their disguises.
