Tag, “You’re It!” - A Saying Heard on Many Playgrounds

As I’m sure you’re aware, “Tag” is a playground game that has been played for generations and in some countries, the game is called “Tip.”

Of course there are a number of variations to the game including ones where there are “safe zones,” where you are safe from being tagged. These safe zones are called “gool,” which was first recorded in print in the 1870s, in Massachusetts.

The strategies for the game varies, depending on the version you are playing.

It might just be randomly running around the field and just being faster than the person who is “it,” to avoid being tagged.

Some versions may include a bit more strategy. This may include some hiding, sneaky attacks or whatever else you can think up as an energetic seven-year-old to either tag someone else or avoid being tagged.

Some school districts in the USA and UK have banned “chase games” due to fear of injuries and to quote them, to avoid “the predatory nature” of the game.

I’ll leave my thoughts about that for another day, but I know when I played the game we were laughing most of the time during the game.

There’s a lot of randomness in the game overall, which is part of the fun. And, most people’s lives are made up of random events, rather than predefined ones. (also, a topic for another day)

But in marketing, your campaigns and in particular your writing, can’t be left to randomness.
