Word Vomit #2: That Ever-so-inviting vote slider

Typical annoying Hallmark card statement - I believe setting goals for yourself is important.

(^my current goal)

I really didn't want to start out the article that way but it was fitting. God, I've heard that phrase all too many times; usually it comes from the mouth of a pretentious d-bag who's never really had to set goals or deal with the consequences of not meeting said goals.

So, here I provide you with another rant: this one relative to my personal goals here on Steemit.

This rant was prompted by the frustration that I know does not solely haunt myself; voting power. Anybody with under 1M VESTS(currently ~489.204 SP) must surely feel as lost as I do without that all-powerful slider.

After a spell of not being able to access the computer much, my voting power had finally recovered upwards of 100%. After one night of exploring the site, and being what I thought was conservative with my votes, aside from the use of Steemfollower, I suddenly realized I had dropped down to 40%.

I find people's content valuable. Especially minnows, like myself, when I see a good post with under $0.10, I feel the need to contribute my small vote towards them, to show my appreciation for their content and efforts; and also, knowing that a lot of these well-crafted posts will remain with that low reward and these small votes really do matter for all of us minnows!

Now, I'm not complaining; just venting as a means to bring me to my point: It seems that a huge milestone for most new members is 1000 SP. Obviously, that is an amazing goal, but for me, my goal lies on that damn vote slider. In my opinion, it is a vital(possibly the vital) tool in increasing productivity and contribution to the platform.

So what are your goals?

I don't really have any reasoning for writing this post; again, I just wanted to vent about my frustration and saw this as an opportunity to do so. But I really am curious:

Do you have any goals here on Steemit? It's somewhat of a stupid question for some, but I think we all are attracted to the financial opportunity the site offers, especially as we see it grow.

Like I said, I think it's important to set goals for ourselves. I work seasonally, and return to 50+ hour weeks at the beginning of April. My goal is to obtain the slider by the time I return to work.

It is definitely an aggressive goal, but I figured why not set my aim high. Plus, I think I should utilize my time here while I have more free time available. It's aggressive, yes, but I think achievable.

So let's hear it! I hope some of you guys have set some goals here. Who knows, depending on where this platform goes, we might not have to go to work one day, and we'll be able to travel and all hang out in the real world! Cheers!

we have the same goal. Every day i struggle with the limited amount of upvotes i can give. There are a lot of really good posts on steemit and i almost feel a little guilty for commenting good posts without giving the upvote they deserve.
Maybe i want to go to fast buth there is nothing wrong with aiming high! Good luck with reaching your goal. Thumbs up!

nice post keep it up

If you never want to miss out then check https://steemit.com/guide/@scrooger/steemauto-full-guide-and-how-to-register to comment/upvote posts automatically. Then you have a slider Yipee.... for Minnows battling!

https://steemauto.com/

Hm, sounds interesting! I'm definitely interested in having a slider but unsure about the "automatic" aspect.. I just don't fully understand what that means. I'll definitely look into it though! Thank you!

Keep an eye on your steemd.com/@herbertholmes add a couple of accounts into the SteemAuto Fan Base as a percentage (no more than 20%) - vote timer go between 15 - 30 minutes after post (wait time) then wait and watch for a 24 hour period. Check in steemd how it affects your account, adjust % down if required, big players with large amounts will go as low as 1 - 5%

Keep an eye on your Voting Power (try not to drop lower than 90%, leave for a day of upvoting to get it back up) Check on Bandwidth as well in the top left hand side. Have fun and good luck.

I have a love/hate relationship with setting goals. I think I told you before (I am not sure) that I try to manage the hate with telling myself that every step closer to my goal is a step that's worth it. My problem with goals is that I am that kind of person who is able to hyperfocus and get a mountain of work done in a short time (which is addictive for me). But I can't keep that fastness running a long time (which makes me feel like a failure).

But I have dreams for my time here. I would love to create a contest about the difficult questions about art. It will not be about the right answer but about answer that makes the mind grow. Questions like: Why is art important in this time? What makes art art? I hope very different answers will be given. I want to reward the thinking and sharing.

I would like to see a bot that verifies original art content. This way we give artists a tool to protect their art. Posting it here and calling the bot before posting it at other places will be a way to proof when necessary. If I have some influence I can maybe make it happen.

For myself I would like my votes to be worth more then 0.01 100% voting power. Oh and that slider you talked about, I want that too.

From my extensive studies in psychology, along with my personal moralities, drives me to attempt to assist make this platform as valuable as possible, as an onboarding to blockchain technology. I believe this technology can make extremely meaningful improvement to current very troubling societal trends. I have goals to become a local ambassador for blockchain conversations, which will naturally include conversations about the STEEM blockchain as it is already has great participation and super tech behind it. The reimbursement for my thoughts, instead of locking them in patent and trademark jail cells, will unleash unheard of innovation. That's why we have seen such impressive improvements in such a young field. My goal for STEEM blockchain is to help us all help ourselves ;*

That would be the life , If work consisted of waking up and stitting infron of your computer while you sip a hot cup of joe.
Ive seen people on here living the dream, irrigardless of post quality but I wont get into that aspect of things lol .. $500 a post , sounds crazy but.. Ive heard starnger things lol. *followed // upvoted *

Good luck reaching your goal sir.

Although I've been active on Steemit for almost four months, I'm still getting my brain round it - there's so much to learn - and for that reason I haven't even thought about goals. Dolphinhood, Whaledom - either of those would be a dream. I like to promote good posts. To be in a position where I can split my vote - that would be wonderful. For now, I'm just enjoying learning more about Steemit and writing my posts.

task completed!

Nice

Nice nice! very nice article!
