We take time to write a letter to ourselves. Yes yes! We think it's an easy and banal exercise, but it's not at all. This reflection may be a little disturbing. In writing, we are forced to make a sometimes disturbing face-to-face. We describe our goals and the reasons that lead us to achieve them. We focus a lot on the emotions we want to feel not only at the end (when our goals will be achieved), but what we want to experience during our transformation. We write a paragraph – at least! – of encouragement that we will read again in moments of doubt and we use the same tone that we would have if we were talking to our best friend. Otherwise, we are sometimes too hard and demanding of ourselves.
Create a picture
We associate each of our goals with an image, a photo, a collage or even a painting. Thus, we can better visualize our objectives . These are not just vague ideas in our heads, they are very real. We hang these images in strategic places where our gaze will rest, if possible, several times during the day. Impossible to flee, without being aggressive either!
think about it when you wake up
The morning often sets the tone for the rest of our day. If we get into the habit of naming, reading or looking at our goals, we improve our chances of acting towards their achievement. We can place an object that reminds us of our desires on our bedside table. So, by opening our eyes, our goals are there! The more we see them, the more we create reminders to never lose sight of them.
Make reviews and adjustments
No need to take stock on a daily basis, but we set certain appointments to take the pulse of our approach. A metamorphosis requires adjustments. We don't always move at the same pace towards our goal, but the important thing is to keep the focus. We may have to make changes for a week because we have a big week at work. If we take the time to evaluate everything, we will find alternatives or new ways to still progress towards our goals. For example: we can't go to the gym as often, but we decide that we will go out for a walk at lunchtime.
Highlight successes
A goal is made up of several steps and it is important to highlight each of them. To do this, we make sure to divide our objectives into several “sub-objectives”. It is motivating to progress – and to persevere! — when we celebrate several small accomplishments rather than always waiting for the “big end result”.
