Ponderosa Pine in the shores of Lake Tahoe

Well, I could be wrong. This pine along the shores of North Lake Tahoe could very well be the Jeffrey Pine, which more common than the Ponderosa in the area. Whatever the case, the tree jutting out into the calm waters with that reflecting the blue skies like a massive mirror is awesome to behold.

Wow so beautiful great view picture

Nice, but nothing special... Such places, and especially the photos very much. I wonder why they collect a lot of votes and reward.

Thi photo it´s AMAZING!!!!

a beautiful lake with a blue sky. good post friends

Beutiful picture @adonisabril

I love Lake Tahoe, even though it has grown, when you get down by the lake it is so serene. This picture shows that.

Great shot. The thing I always remember about California is the smell of the trees.

They say that the way to tell the difference between a Ponderosa and Jeffrey pine is by the pinecones. The points on the Ponderosa cone stick out so as to poke your fingers while the Jeffrey points curl under enough to not be pokey.
"Prickly Pondarosa – gentle Jeffrey." Honestly, it can be tough to tell.
The tree in the forefront of the photo actually has shorter needle sets so possibly it's a Sugarpine?
