This sky streak during sunset had me hanging off the balcony in Bangkok, Thailand.
I love to see the light from the sun coming up instead of down and this was a real show. I was bathed in a purple glow as I watched.
I am fascinated by the soft blue on the left and the vivid colors on the right. What is blocking the light? Is it the thick cloud in the bottom left?

That's an incredible shot. I remember many stunning sunsets in Bangkok. I think the particulates in the air have something to do with it.

We've got particulates now! The air is highly polluted since late January. I cannot even see many of the buildings the are normally glowing in the sun. It's big news here with warnings about it. The other day I was out at 10 AM and the sun was red! The MRT stations all have fans near the tracks. I guess it is so we I don't asphyxiate down there.
And the sunsets have all been busts. I think it is just too much for the sun to even penetrate.

Wow, I didn't realize it was that bad this year. Where's it coming from - China? It's a shame because otherwise Jan/Feb is the best time to be in Thailand.

I have no idea, but it is not getting any better. I am taking photos of nothing out the balcony these days. It looks like fog, but it's smog. So gross! I am going to post a comparison post soon. The wind ha been from the south, so I don't think it is China.

Thank you. I was not posting much here until November. Mostly I did comments all day and tried to learn about this place. Then I got the suggestion to post 2-4 times a day, 7 days a week; and that's what I have done since then. It has made a huge difference here, and I recommend this.

Very beautiful shot! I would totally have been outside looking at that, as well... "watch sunsets" is an important saying around our house. No idea what would create such a straight line effect, though.
