I've been a big fan of Tiger through all the dark times. I feel like he got an unfair shake. People just wanting to make headlines and be outraged.
I don't think cheating on your wife is good or anything, but sentiment turned against him as tho he was some sort of monster. It's mostly just kind of like.. not really anyone's business to care too much about.
I feel like it's changed, where that section of his story is old news and he's back in the good graces again. So that's fun to see. He had a bunch of support on the golf course yesterday. His problems lately have been injury, and massive back problems.
But Tiger Woods is back!!!
He didn't win yesterday, at the PGA Championship, but he's back!
I'm locking it in now in my mind where I want to bet on him to win next year's Masters, and/or a bet on him to win at least 1 major next year.
He was a little behind going into Sunday, but shot a 6-under 64 to make a run at it.
It was an epic 64, too. He didn't hit much more than 3 or 4 fairways. He was scrambling from the rough and from the trees and from the creek and all this nonsense, but with the heart of a lion he gave himself a chance.
Brooks Koepka just had too much ice water in his veins.
Watching him you get the impression that he was built in a lab or something to do this. Like he just isn't going to make a mistake.
And that's basically what it came down to. Starting Sunday a little bit off the pace, Tiger needed him to fold at some point. But he never did.
Regardless, Tiger is back!
If Brooks Koepka's parents didn't have sex one night in the late 80s, then there exists no person who would have beaten Tiger's score this week. So that means he's back. :p
Tiger was a class act and stuck around to give a congratulations to Koepka and his girlfriend.
https://golfweek.com/2018/08/12/video-tiger-woods-gives-brooks-koepka-a-major-hug-after-pga/
I imagine Tiger feels really good today, even taking 2nd place. It wasn't the kind of 2nd place where he lost down the stretch or feels like he wasted an opportunity, as much as he just made a great charge to give himself a chance, and Koepka held on.
Sweating someone at golf is borderline stressful to me. I play golf every blue moon or so, enough to appreciate the feel of it but not actually be good or competent or anything. So when I watch them line up for a putt that they're supposed to make or whatever shot, it's easy to project myself on the situation and it daunts me. Like shit, he's not supposed to miss this, but it seems so hard lol.
I've been trying to imagine it like they're doing some other thing. Like their experience with putting feels maybe like I'd feel if I was trying to throw a tennis ball at a target from not too far away or something.
The only thing I saw was
BUT TIGER WOODS IS BACK!!!
I see you're heavy on goats. From LeBron James to Tiger Woods...
Let hope this Tiger doesn't remain too long in the woods

hahah, ya I respect the greats!!
Don't leave Tom Brady out of that either!!!! :p
If more people found the thing that they're great at, we'd have less people bothering each other and getting in the way!!!
<3 the GOATs

I love stories like tigers! Honestly anytime some one amazing like Lebron or Serina Williams comes around I can’t help but root for them!
Cheating on his wife wasn’t a good look, but I felt like he got crucified which must have felt like the weight of the world had fallen on him.
Regardless of that, he’s back!!! It’s all about how you get up!!

Right!! It was definitely like he got crucified. Like, reaction way out of proportion to what he did.
Infidelity isn't hurting anyone but his wife and his family and his own life. So it's like, why even feel the need to pile on and be indignant about it? It isn't like he was hurting or wronged general society or anything.

If I'm being 100% honest, I think a lot of it had to do with him being a successful black man and just haters in general happy to see a star fall.
But on another note, I think I'm getting addicted to steem again. I don't know if its because my life is so busy again and I need a reason to procrastinate, or because the price is so low that I feel like all of the spammers are gone, but holy ish this is fun!

yaa, I think a lot of people are reactionary to the way it's presented too, so once the networks go that way.. people think that way
that's sick!! hahah the spammers. I wasn't sure if I was seeing less because of my new tendencies to flag them or just because of price but ya I guess it's price lol
welcome back ahaha

I agree with that. And heck, you don't even have to be black. The moment you climb the ladder faster/higher than other people expect, you're bound to make enemies. Some of them probably think life cheated on them, others probably think you're the eclipse on their shine.
Know what? Fuck 'em
I'm glad to hear Tiger is back. Will he resume his title as @full-measure believes? I don't know. But if he plays with passion and skill he's known for, that's enough for me

Ya, some people are bothered by success and want to rip others down. Tiger as a black man and especially contrasting against what's usually a white sport may if nothing else draw increasing attention, and kind of exacerbate that attitude.
I think it's like an outlet for some people, hating on others and trying to shame and whatnot makes them feel better.
Fuck 'em!!! ahaha

I agree! But unfortunately it doesn’t work that way. Once you are celebrity, you become a target. In good times, you are a hero. In bad times, like Woods had gone through, you are nothing and worse. That’s how most people react, no matter what. I’m Woods’s fan as wel and if he really comes back and starts winning tournaments, it will be one of the best comebacks in history of sport.
lol I alway say “if fish lived in our asses, they wouldn’t need any lakes”

Ya, I mean to me there's a difference between obsessing over celebs when they do things that are of the public's concern vs their private life. Like if he was having sex with underage girls or something like that, it's the public's interest.
But it shouldn't be anybody's business what the inner workings of his marriage are. And technically that's all the issue is. Having sex with the various ladies isn't itself problematic -- it's his marriage commitment that people are concerned about.
It's probably not too likely, but it's a possibility that they have an open marriage and are allowed to be sexually loose. Or it can even be like an unspoken understanding, that he does that kind of thing. So technically we're butting in to what their personal arrangement is, if there's any reason to be outraged.
So ya, it's like as a celeb you expect to be hyperfocused on. But I think there's a difference between personal life vs what's actually of public concern.
And people would recognize that line if, like, it had to do with criticizing their kids. They'd be like "oh, we leave their private life out of it, we shouldn't be reporting on that". But then with this (which is technically in the realm of what their agreement and marriage situation is, and totally private), people don't make that cutoff and instead treat it like public concern.

People create this monster in their minds. You see, he became a cheater in their minds. He is not their hero anymore. He hurt his innocent wife and that’s whom people mostly connect with, whether it’s their concern or not. I’ve seen it so many times before. It usually has a huge psychological impact on people like Tiger Woods. Sometimes they even commit suicide or try to.

That's an interesting and good point.
For better or worse, celebrities can grow to kind of feed off of the love for them. And then if it suddenly turns (perhaps in a deliberate, coordinated way to create headlines), that can have a big psychological effect on them.

Yeah... People are funny.
In almost all instances like this one, the other party suddenly becomes the innocent victim.
Guess there's a reason many don't follow public perceptions (the smart ones don't ignore it either)

I actually put a bet on Koepka to win after round 3. Even though I had my money on him after Tigers 2nd shot on 16 to put it to a few feet away I was like this can really happen but then as cool as Koepka was he found his rhythm with the putter right at the end.
Was honestly one of the best sundays to watch in a long time!

It was suuuuch a good Sunday ,, no joke
Really fun golf to watch. Koepka's robotic laidbackness is entertaining to me lol. And Tiger scrambling around and showing heart was epic. Nice bet!!
I felt like Koepka was gonna be hard to run down and stopped myself every time I got tempted to bet on Tiger.

I know I was tempted on Tiger too especially since it was @9.1 going into Sunday.
WORDD! Honestly shocking how cool he was with the lead especially being in the last pairing. If he stays healthy he could easily take over #1 next year.

ya!
I wonder if Adam Scott being in there helped at all.. like maybe it removed the enigma of Tiger chasing him, like he was able to just focus on beating Adam.
but mostly I think he's just a sicko who stays cool.

I honestly think it made a difference. I think of course the Tiger factor would have played a part but the fact that all the fans were all focused on the pairing ahead and not with the last pairing probably made it easier as well!
Very well could just be a sick degenerate too whose got more Ice in his veins then Val Kilmer in Top Gun.

I agree. The public sure seems to wants to see Tiger win again. Masters next year you say? Hmm, I wouldn’t count him out.

Masters next year.. I at least feel like it's a good bet ,, but I'll need my 8-1 odds or whatever it will be :)
As far as hard predictions go: I'm comfortable going on the blockchain with the prediction that Tiger will win one major next year.
goooo Tiger!
All the greats from the early 2000s are just so hard to count out, hehe
