GONORRHEA INFECTION IN WOMEN

Gonorrhea is still a common dangerous sexually transmitted infections among our women. It is clear indication that a lot of people are not using protection (condoms) or may not be doing the right things in bed. If gonorrhea is not preperly treated, it could result to a lot of complications including infertility. It is important for us to focus on gonorrhea briefly especially as it concerns woman.

Gonorrhea is not transmitted from toilet seats, Is sexual transmitted diseases (STDs) .
Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) are infections that can be transferred from one person to another through any type of sexual contact.
Gonorrhea is caused by bacterium, the bacteria can grow in several places in the body, including the cervix (opening to the womb), uterus(womb), urethra(urine canal), mouth, throat, eyes and anus.
Gonorrhea do not have symptoms in most women,
Symptoms most women have :

  • Feel pain or burning when they urinate.
  • Painful sexual intercourse.
  • Fever and general tiredness.
  • Lower abdominal (belly) pain.
  • Have more discharge from the vagina than usual.

  • Have bleeding or spotting from vagina.
    Woman who have gonorrhea can develop serious complications if the infection is untreated. They can get pelvic inflammatory disease (PID). PID is an infection of the uterus, fallopian tubes and ovaries in the woman's pelvis. It can cause pain, tubes scar and infertility.
    Untreated gonorrhea can also spread to the blood or joints and can be life threatening.
    Doctors use lab tests to diagnose gonorrhea and treat it with antibiotics.

BASIC FACT OF GONORRHEA


  • Babies can get the infection during delivery as they pass through the birth canal. In babies, gonorrhea can cause blindness, joint infection, or a life-threatening blood infection. Ask your doctor to screen you for gonorrhea early in pregnancy and use antibiotic if you have.
  • Be sure your partner is also screened. Partners can pass the infection back and forth betwen themselves.
  • Use condoms during sex
  • Having sex with one partner whobis only having sex with you alone and tested for gonorrhea.
    If your doctor gives you antibiotics, be sure to take them as directed.
