The letter to the Hebrews is an epistle attributed to the apostle Paul and unlike the other letters, this one seems especially directed to explain the new priesthood that is born with the new alliance between God and men. In a certain sense, the epistle is presented as a new version of Leviticus, a book of the Pentateuch, no longer based on strict rules of compliance but on the freedom of the spirit.
The letter begins by declaring the supremacy of Christ over all creation, with the intention to confront some heresies similar to Arianism that denied the coexistence of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. After this, the letter declares Jesus as high priest of a new covenant and as the only mediator between God and men, and this is why Paul taught that a new priesthood affirmed in a new law must be established according to the order of Melchizedek and not of Aaron
With these ideas, Paul developed the greater part of his letter, but then the apostle left the last part to explain what the law of Christ consists of and how it applies in relationships with one's neighbor. What good is the gift of faith without works, Paul asked again like the previous letters in a few words. This is why Paul warned about a very common evil in those who are ignorant and do not know the importance of grace, the love related with greed and directed toward apparent goods: "Don't love money. Be happy with what you have because God has said, ´I will never abandon you or leave you´" Hebrews 13:5. And then Paul taught the main effect that faith that is born from a sincere conversion should produce: "It is good for our hearts to be strengthened by grace" Hebrews 13:9. Faith must ultimately serve to live the gifts and make them bear fruit.
So Paul ended his last words with a prayer, which sums up the love of Christ in the hearts of the devoted people: "Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever" Hebrews 13:21. To believe in Christ is, ultimately, the only path to blessedness and true happiness.
