Bible study: But do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased

The letter to the Hebrews explains how to offer true worship to God; in other words, doing what pleases God does not consist in offering religious worship but in helping God's creation to improve. That is why the duty of man is to help others to free them from their misery, the meaning of life is to increase the gifts inherited from God, increase mercy (compassion, kindness, gentleness, benevolence), increase charity, increase joy: "But do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.", Hebrews 13:16.
God is the wisdom itself according to Thomas Aquinas, God is the perfection itself, and we cannot access God and his heavenly kingdom through our imperfections, we cannot understand God through fear, guilt, selfishness. God can only accept our perfections, this is what pleasing God consists of: the perfect seeks the perfect.

In the old testament the offerings to God consisted of sacrificing animals, but in the new testament the offerings to God consist in love our neighbor:
"Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: "Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?"
Jesus replied: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind". This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: "Love your neighbor as yourself". All the law and the prophets hang on these two commandments." Matthew 22: 34-40.
Doing good (righteousness: "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you", Matthew 7:12) and sharing means living in communion, communion is life in common, equality. The opposite of communion is the favoritism which is a social sin.
