The origin of ethics is God: You are good, and what you do is good; teach me your decrees. Psalm 119:68

The Bible teaches us one of the most important spiritual concepts, the origin of ethics is not human reason but God. This is how the Book of Psalms expresses this teaching: "You are good, and what you do is good; teach me your decrees" Psalm 119:68.
God is the creator of the universe, the most wise, and the good in his highest degree. And this has very important practical implications, because we see this teaching in very precise situations in the Bible, in the trial of Susanna in the book of Daniel (Book of Daniel 13:1-64) the virtues of justice and prudence are not enough to prove Susanna's innocence against the accusation of two wicked elders and Susana is convicted, but the prophet Daniel inspired by God resolves through the council or the art of listening and finds the truth.
The advice or sacred listening (perceive with attention, meditate with intuition and inspiration, decide) is a spiritual gift and an ethical virtue, in other words, the advice is a good virtue, by this spiritual gift we emulate the Lord, that is to say, we resolve what is presented to our judgment as God in person.
The Bible also explains to us with this that to understand the divine mysteries and the spiritual realities more than the law of Moses is needed, we need those "good gifts" or "spiritual presents" from above that are mercy (compassion, kindness), the fear of God (constancy, firmness, devotion) and wisdom, so it teaches the psalm:
"Do good to your servant
according to your word, LORD.
Teach me knowledge and good judgment,
for I trust your commands" Psalm 119:65-66.
The good is a nature because all beings tend to their good or perfection, the worm tends to the butterfly for example, that is why the notion of God is naturally imprinted in human hearts; the man as such, the integral or complete man is the wise man as God is wise. In summary, spirituality consists of getting as close as possible to that supreme good that is God.
