The bible gives special importance to the study of wisdom, some books are dedicated exclusively to its study such as the books of wisdom and proverbs. Christianity will later place wisdom within the mysteries of the holy spirit (Gnosis).
Wisdom is a spiritual gift that allows us to adequately evaluate problems, wisdom is precision and accuracy, there is a wise quote that says: "The words of the wise are like goads, their collected sayings like firmly embedded nails—given by one shepherd.", Ecclesiastes 12:11.
Prudence should not be confused with wisdom, prudence is practical reason, instead wisdom implies something deeper, wisdom discovers what is hidden in God's providence, the wise man is also an oracle. The wise man is always prudent, but not everyone prudent is wise. Wisdom is a perfection: "Be perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect", Matthew 5:48.
The ability to make decisions wisely can be even more important than physical strength, this is explained in the book of Ecclesiastes:
"Here is another bit of wisdom that has impressed me as I have watched they way our world works. There was a small town with only a few people, and a great king came with his army and besieged it. A poor, wise man knew how to save the town, and so it was rescued. But afterward no one thought to thank him. So even though wisdom is better than strength, those who are wise will be despised if they are poor. What they say will not be appreciated for long.
Better to hear the quiet words of a wise person
than the shouts of a foolish king.
Wisdom is better than weapons of war,
but one sinner destroys much good ", Ecclesiastes 9:13-18.
The way of wisdom (the knowledge of the correct means of living) is opposed to folly (the path of error), as light to darkness: "I saw that wisdom is better than folly, just as light is better than darkness", Ecclesiastes 2:13.
