The beatitudes are not only in the new testament, we also find them in the old testament. The Beatitudes were so important in ancient times that the Book of Psalms begins with the beatitude of the righteous men. Beatitude is not like virtue because beatitude is way, truth, and life, beatitude is progressive, edifying, and ordering; beatitude responds to the desire for the good like the wisdom. Beatitude is born of the spiritual gifts inherited from God, not of the moral virtue.
The Psalm 65 teaches us that the goodness of the Lord is eternal and perfect, God wants to bless us with the immaterial goods of his spiritual house like a star transmits its light to us (the qualities of God are radiant), and being invited to live close to God is a beatitude (Immortality, Wisdom 6:19); God's devotees are blessed, and God listens to their prayers, forgiving with good love (Agape) those who ask for his mercy (compassion, gentleness, kindness).
This is how the Book of the Psalm explains all this:
"You who answer prayer,
to you all people will come.
When we were overwhelmed by sins,
you forgave our transgressions.
Blessed are those you choose
and bring near to live in your courts!
We are filled with the good things of your house,
of your holy temple" Psalm 65:2-4.
In addition, all this goodness of God is present through the perfection of the things created by God, it is true that there is a certain destructiveness in nature such as fires and earthquakes, but this destructiveness does not respond to an ontological evil but rather to the achievement of the harmony of the universe:
"You answer us with awesome and righteous deeds,
God our Savior,
the hope of all the ends of the earth
and of the farthest seas,
who formed the mountains by your power,
having armed yourself with strength,
who stilled the roaring of the seas,
the roaring of their waves,
and the turmoil of the nations" Psalm 65:5-7.
