I am just happy for my government health insurance (Philhealth) announcement that they will give a total of 144 dialysis treatments instead of 90 this year making the patients to get a needed relief as they (we) can now go for three times a week dialysis because of the added allowance of 54 treatments making a total of allocated allowance of 144 this year.

Dialysis patient now will no longer have to pay out of pocket for the expensive medical treatment and we no longer have to go for that once a week, every five days, or twice a week treatments if we want the thrice a week which now will be covered by Philhealth.

I already had exhausted my Philhealth dialysis allowance and for my next treatment I will pay out of pocket. If my dialysis center is swift enough to notify me about having not to pay anymore for my succeeding dialysis treatments then I will not have to pay.

The problem is that if they would be waiting for a go signal first before giving us the additional free sessions then it will not be favorable for the meantime for us because I have to pay out of pocket still.

But at least there is a hope that I will not be over-burdened by such bone-drying expenses because of this current good news from Philhealth board of directors and I hope that next year we will be covered even with a three times weekly sessions even without a state of calamity declaration due to the pandemic.
